鈥淪ince graduation my life can best be described with the word 鈥榯ravel,鈥欌�� writes听Melissa Mansell Popp听(IntlAf鈥�81). She started working for the federal government in 1981 and lived in Maryland, Colorado, England, Virginia, Pakistan and Indonesia. She has since settled in Elizabeth, Colo., where she has Broncos season tickets and two grown daughters.

With more than 25 years of financial management and strategic planning experience,听Reagan Sakai听(Fin鈥�81, MBA鈥�88) has taken his skills to BlueCava. He serves as CFO for the company, which is a provider of device identification technology that enables businesses to improve online advertising effectiveness and reduce fraud risk. He lives in Dove Canyon, Calif.

Well-known sports journalist听Rick Reilly听(Jour鈥�81) gave the final graduation speech of CU鈥檚 journalism school in May. He worked as a reporter for the 麻豆影院听颁补尘别谤补,听The听Denver Post听and the听Los Angeles Times听before joining听Sports Illustrated听where he wrote for 23 years. He is a front-page columnist for ESPN.com and hosts ESPN鈥檚 hour-long interview show, 鈥淗omecoming.鈥� Rick lives in Denver.

Karen Gilleland (Engl'82) has lived in 麻豆影院 since 1965. She recently published the third mystery novel in her series Diamond-Dennison Mysteries. The book, Diamond and the French Blue, is recommended for those seeking a combination of mystery and personal revelations.听

John Bayard Tweedy Jr. (贰苍驳濒鈥�82), Beret Elizabeth Strong (Engl鈥�83) and Katrina Washington Miller (Jour鈥�07) helped direct and produce the documentary film This is [Not] Who We Are, which explores the history of 麻豆影院 and the sometimes painful experiences of 麻豆影院鈥檚 Black community. The film has screened in 40 film festivals nationally and internationally, won nearly 20 awards and sold out at its Colorado Chautauqua Auditorium screening. The film is now available for programming to 350 PBS stations nationwide and is free to every K鈥�12 school in 麻豆影院 County.听

Chemical engineer Seth Darst (ChemEng鈥�82) investigates the structure, function and regulation of RNA synthesis in bacteria and SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent for COVID-19. He was elected to the United States National Academy of Sciences in 2008, is a professor of molecular biophysics at Rockefeller University and won the Gregori Aminoff Prize in 2022. The annual prize is awarded by The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and recognizes individual contributions to the field of crystallography, the study of atomic structures in solid materials. The King of Sweden presented Seth with the award.

After looking for a geophysics job for two years, Tim Thompson (Geol鈥�82) then spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and another 19 years supporting the Department of Defense, while also obtaining additional degrees along the way. He is now heading towards retirement. He never did use his geology degree in his career, he writes, but he became a rocket scientist, so he calls it a success.

After graduating from CU, Mark Tobin (Acct鈥�82) began working for the mining company BHP. He lived in South America for three years with the job, and also visited Japan, Canada, France and Mali. Mark then worked for Safeway, Nike, Southern Pacific Funding Corporation, Louisiana Pacific and The Westervelt Company in financial roles, most recently serving as CFO. He has lived in San Francisco, Santiago, Portland, Nashville and Tuscaloosa. Now, Mark is deciding between retirement, teaching, philanthropic work or more finance. He is appreciative of the education and opportunities he has had thanks to CU, he writes, and is looking forward to more time with family, friends and travel.

In April, Erich Schubert (Jour鈥�05; MA鈥�08) was named vice president of communications and content for the Denver Broncos. Entering his 16th season with the Broncos, Erich works closely with the club鈥檚 chief communications officer and chief marketing officer. In addition to his involvement with the team鈥檚 day-to-day football, corporate and internal communications plans, Erich oversees the content department for the Broncos, which in 2022 became the first NFL franchise to win a Webby Award, often regarded as the internet鈥檚 highest honor. He began his career with the Broncos as a media relations intern in 2008 after working in the CU 麻豆影院 Sports Information Office with David Plati (闯辞耻谤鈥�82).

Wendy Lynch听(PE鈥�82; MS鈥�84;听PhD鈥橢du) founded and听runs , which helps convert听complex analytics into听business value. With听more than 35 years of听experience in the field,听Wendy has written a听 and runs an online听course about becoming听an analytics translator.听She is a consultant to听numerous Fortune 100听companies, and her听current work focuses on听the application of big听data solutions in human听capital management.

Until the start of the pandemic, Gail Firmin (Psych鈥�82) was in charge of the Art & Soul program, an art mentoring class for adults with disabilities sponsored by the Developmental Disabilities Resource Center and Lloyd G. Clements Center in Lakewood, Colorado. Gail teaches adult continuing education courses in various mediums for the City of Lakewood, and her award-winning work in watercolors, mixed media, and pen and ink is on display at galleries in Lakewood. She lives in Littleton, Colorado.

Cynthia Clark (Econ; Law鈥�85), author of two romance/suspense novels, published her first illustrated children鈥檚 book, Max Goes to Town. Charmingly illustrated and written in verse, the book tells the story of a cunning family farm cat, Max, who amazes his family when he journeys into town. Cynthia lives in Hygiene, Colorado.听

Harvard history professor Philip J. Deloria (MusEdu; MJour鈥�88) was elected to the American Philosophical Society. His research and teaching focuses on the histories of the relations among American Indian peoples and the U.S., as well as the histories of Indigenous peoples in a global context.

Cynthia Hafner Clark (Econ; Law鈥�85) recently published her second novel, Dirt Road Main Street, a suspenseful romance.

Cynthia Clark (Econ; Law鈥�85) published her first novel, 麻豆影院 Girl, Remember Me When the Moon Hangs Low. She describes it as 鈥渁 story of suspense interwoven with a tender love story, enhanced by classic rock-and-roll music.鈥� She lives in Hygiene, Colorado.

CU 麻豆影院鈥檚 David Plati (Jour) was inducted into the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America Hall of Fame. He has worked as CU Director of SportsInformation for 35 years.
