Lauren McCain聽(MPolSci; PhD鈥�03) is a federal lands policy analyst with Defenders of Wildlife, a nonprofit conservation organization. She works to defend, strengthen and expand federal law, policy and management that conserve wildlife and habitat on federal lands. She co-founded and served as executive director of the Southern Plains Land Trust, which protects grassland species on private lands in the Southern Great Plains. She also has helped conduct conservation field projects in Africa and Mongolia, studying wild animals. She lives in Denver.

The Denver-based nonprofit MyLifeLine.org Cancer Foundation appointed health care executive聽Pete Sheehan(PolSci) CEO. Pete drives strategic planning, business development, product innovation and partnership development efforts for the organization. He lives in Denver with his wife and two children.

Last October聽Joy Roberts聽(Soc) was awarded the 2014 Specialized Prosecutions Attorney of the Year Award from the Association of Deputy District Attorneys. Joy is a deputy district attorney in the Los Angeles County district attorney鈥檚 office.

Sarah Kauss聽(Acct), the inventor of a popular, sleek, stainless-steel water bottle in 2010, was named to Forbes鈥� 鈥�40 Under 40鈥� list. Sarah has sold millions of the bottles, available through J. Crew, Starbucks and other retailers. She even received a nod of approval from Ellen DeGeneres.

Entrepreneur and engineer聽Marco Campos聽(CivEngr) was named the 2015 9News Leader of the Year by the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation and 9News. Through his engineering, procurement and construction services firm, Campos EPC, Marco is dedicated to investing in STEM education efforts, especially those focused on helping female and under-represented minority students. He lives in Denver.

With more than 12 years of experience in the healthcare and benefits field,聽Christopher Walker聽(PolSci) joined Edgewood Partners Insurance Center as director of healthcare compliance. The company consults on retail property, casualty insurance brokerage and employee benefits. Christopher is based in San Francisco.

Lt. Col聽Brian Filler聽(InfoSys), commander of the 471 Missile Security Forces at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, reflected on his time spent at CU as a student employee in the housing and dining department in an essay written for the base. He explained that many of the people he worked with had a positive influence on his life. 鈥淧eople who are passionate make a difference,鈥� he wrote.

Amanda Kahlow聽(Advert) is CEO and founder of 6Sense, a San Francisco startup that received $12 million in venture funding. The firm, which is backed by Bain Capital Ventures, Battery Ventures, Venrock and Salesforce, also won the innovation showdown contest at VentureBeat鈥檚 DataBeat conference. Amanda previously spent 14 years as the CEO and founder of CI Insights, a big-data services company.

Uranium producer Energy Fuels promoted attorney聽Curtis H. Moore聽(Law, MBA) to vice president of marketing and corporate development for the Lakewood company鈥檚 holding and operating subsidiaries in the U.S. Curtis has worked with the company for more than seven years. In his position, he leads the uranium sales and marketing department.

Ryan Thompson聽(Jour) is assistant general counsel and an adjunct writing professor at Niagara University in New York. He was admitted to practice law in 2004 and previously worked at a Fifth Avenue firm specializing in litigation. He lives in Orchard Park, N.Y.

Dana Whitelaw聽(MAnth; PhD鈥�10) has worked in wildlife conservation and education for more than 20 years. At CU, she focused on the ecological strategies of ring-tailed lemurs in southwestern Madagascar, where her work led to doubling in size of a reserve. A native Oregonian, Dana serves as executive director of the High Desert Museum in Bend, Ore.

Skoler, Abbott & Presser, a labor and employment law firm in the Springfield, Mass., area, hired聽Erica Flores聽(Bus, Jour) as an associate. Erica joined the firm after relocating to Massachusetts from Pennsylvania, where she was an associate in the employment law practice group of the firm Morgan Lewis.

Buff love was in the air when聽Ron Geschwer聽(Psych), a CU alumni chapter leader of NY Buffs, met Desiree Bandelier (Psych鈥�08) at a NY Buffs chapter event. The couple was married last September.

The Denver-based Fruition Internet Marketing team hired聽Mark Kranjcec聽(Mktg) as director of strategic partnerships. After graduating from CU, Mark worked for the Daily Camera as retail advertising director. He also has worked at Prairie Mountain Media and is a volunteer for B Strong Ride, an annual bicycle event that honors cancer survivors.

Historic Columbia named聽Sean Stucker聽(Engl) its director of facilities. Sean, a native of Columbia, S.C., is responsible for maintaining the organization鈥檚 historic buildings and structures. He previously worked with Trinity Design & Build in North Carolina. He holds a master鈥檚 degree from the University of Georgia in historic preservation.

Dallas natives聽Zack Fickey聽(Comm) and聽John Reardon聽(Fin鈥�03) own and operate the Texas craft brewery Deep Ellum Brewing Company. The pair credit their success to great brews, creative marketing and design and their CU experience. 鈥淐ouldn鈥檛 have made this possible without the love of craft beer right in our own backyards for so many years,鈥� Zack writes.

As grants manager at CU鈥檚 BioFrontiers Institute,聽Meagan Balink Taylor聽(Jour) uses her six years of experience in grant writing and sponsored research administration to help faculty submit grant proposals, develop budgets and navigate regulations. She lives in Broomfield, Colo.
