Boston consulting firm Charles River Associates hired economist聽Michelle Burtis聽(PolSci) as vice president. A seasoned analyst of alleged price fixing, market allocation and attempted monopoly, among other things, she has served as an expert in a wide variety of legal proceedings.

As director of communication at Patrick Henry College in northern Virginia,聽David Halbrook聽(Jour) supervises planning and implementation of broad-based, integrated college communications and social media strategy. He also is an adjunct journalism professor, editor of the college鈥檚 American Roundtable publication and coordinator of an interview series.

Since 2007,聽Brian Vogt聽(Class) has been CEO of the Denver Botanic Gardens, leading fundraising and major facilities upgrades. He previously served in senior posts in state government, including three years as director of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade. Brian lives in Littleton.

St. Louis, Mo., resident聽Charles H. 鈥淐hip鈥� Fendell聽(InfoSys) was directly affected by kidney disease and received two life-saving kidney transplants. After his experience, he began working with the National Kidney Foundation to educate the public about kidney disease. Last year he was elected to the foundation鈥檚 board of directors. Charles is a partner at the Thompson Coburn law firm and has been voted into the Best Lawyers in America since 2005.

David R. Bach聽(Class) has been named a Maryland Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers magazine for 2013, 2014 and 2015. He has been practicing family law for more than 23 years in Rockville, Md., where he resides. David currently co-chairs the Montgomery County Bar Association鈥檚 education law section. After serving for 28 years in the U.S. Navy (active and reserve time),聽James Michael Davis聽(Econ) retired in December with the rank of commander. The former CU NROTC midshipman spent 2013 on active duty in Manama, Bahrain. At retirement he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He lives in Pasadena, Calif.

Kathy Abromeit聽(Mus), public services librarian in the Oberlin Conservatory Library, published Spirituals: A Multidisciplinary Bibliography for Research and Performance. The book is a 1,000-item, annotated bibliography documenting articles, books and dissertations published since 1920. It brings a multidisciplinary perspective to African American spirituals. Kathy lives in Oberlin, Ohio.

Tom Stever聽(Acct) and a partner acquired a stake in Pitre Buick GMC in Albuquerque. After working as a CPA in Phoenix, Tom in 1993 moved his family to New Mexico and joined Pitre, where he managed the dealership鈥檚 financials. 鈥淚鈥檓 a numbers guy,鈥� he told the Albuquerque Journal News.

Asset management and recovery company SquareTwo Financial named聽Julie Fellows聽(Bus) chief compliance officer. Julie is in charge of all regulatory compliance initiatives for the company. Before SquareTwo, she worked as CEO and founder of J.A. Fellows and Associates. Julie lives in Lafayette, Colo.

Denver-based Roadhouse Hospitality, owned by brothers聽John Shipp听(惭办迟驳),聽Mike Shipp聽(Fin鈥�83) and聽Dan Shipp(Econ鈥�83), was planning to open its 16th restaurant and first in 麻豆影院 in the historic train depot at 麻豆影院 Junction in May. Some of the company鈥檚 other restaurants include Spanky鈥檚 Urban Roadhouse, The Dusty Boot and Reiver鈥檚 Bar and Grill.

Writer and filmmaker聽Shane Kuhn聽(Psych), author of The Intern鈥檚 Handbook, is releasing the second book in his John Lago assassin series, Hostile Takeover, on July 14. The New York Post called The Intern鈥檚 Handbook, which is expected to become a feature film from Sony Pictures starring Dave Franco, 鈥渁 sexy, darkly comic thriller.鈥� Shane and his family split their time among Massachusetts, Colorado and California.

Christine Bartel聽(Econ) was named president and CEO of home health-care provider McLaren Homecare Group of Davison, Mich. Earlier in her career she worked for Standard & Poor鈥檚 and Dun & Bradstreet. She also started a home-care services company in Greenwood Village, Colo., with branch locations in Colorado Springs and Fort Collins. In 2008 she sold that company to a private equity firm.

Sandra Schubert聽(Law; MPhil鈥�96) joined the law firm of Somach Simmons & Dunn in Sacramento. She previously worked as undersecretary for the California Department of Food and Agriculture, where she helped draft the California Water Action Plan. In her new position, she works with agriculture, air, environmental and water law clients.

Fred Studer聽(Fin) joined NetSuite, Inc., a provider of cloud-based financials software, as chief marketing officer. He oversees NetSuite鈥檚 worldwide marketing initiatives and promotes awareness of the company鈥檚 cloud-based business management software. He previously worked for Microsoft for seven years and for Oracle for 12.
