The Morris K. and Steward L. Udall Scholarship

The Udall Foundation seeks sophomores and juniors who are committed to careers related to the environment, tribal public policy, or Native American health care. They look for future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics.

  • Campus deadline: Early February each year
  • Final deadline: Mid-March each year
  • °Õ±ð°ù³¾:ÌýOne or two years.
  • Amount of support: Each scholarship covers tuition, fees, books, and room and board, up to a maximum of $7,000 for one year.
  • Number of Scholarships: up to 55 scholarships are awarded each year.

Eligibility

1) Environmental Category:

  • a. U.S. Citizens, Nationals, and Lawful Permanent Residents;
  • b. Who are sophomore or junior-level students of accredited higher education
  • institutions;
  • c. Who intend to pursue careers related to the environment; and
  • d. Who meet other appropriate eligibility requirements set by the Udall Foundation.

    2)Native American and Alaska Native Categories:

  • a. U.S. Citizens, Nationals, and Lawful Permanent Residents;
  • b. Who are enrolled members of one or more Federally Recognized Indian Tribes that
  • are included in the annual list of Indian Tribes published by the Secretary of the
  • Interior pursuant to 25 U.S.C. § 5131;
  • Who intend to pursue careers in health care or Tribal public policy; and
  • Who meet other appropriate eligibility requirements set by the Udall Foundation.

Application Procedure

Candidates must be nominated by their institution to compete for the Udall Scholarship and must meet the campus deadline. There will be a competitive selection process on campus to determine CU’s candidates. Students will complete an online application and write a short essay. This application requires three letters of recommendation.
