Reaching out statewide to tell our story on such a personal level to alumni, donors, newspaper editors, business and government leaders is one of the most gratifying things I do all year.
The feedback from students is clear: CU Â鶹ӰԺ can do a better job of providing a seamless experience for student services and business transactions. With this in mind, we are excited to announce the Unified Student Experience Project.
With finals right around the corner, and the last of the snow melted (hopefully), the end of the school year for many is almost here. First and foremost, congratulations on a successful year! If you are graduating, best of luck to you in the future and we hope you stay connected. If you are returning in the fall, or staying for Maymester or summer classes, I hope to see you around.

The academic year starts as a marathon, ends in a sprint, and now the finish line is in sight. Whether you are a new graduate or a returning student I hope you will take advantage of the abundant resources of the university to break the tape and make a difference in your community, in your nation and in the world.
An essential element of the university’s success is its people. As an institution, we need to continuously examine how our employees are supported and connected to our community. This fall, I charged a task force to examine work-life issues for front-line service staff at CU Â鶹ӰԺ. These employees play a valued role in the life of the university, and we need to improve our ability to attract, develop and retain employees in these positions and provide a welcoming working environment.
Over a 10-year cycle, CU Â鶹ӰԺ works with a regional accreditor on quality assurance and institutional improvements for reaffirmation of accreditation. The current cycle concludes in 2019-20, but work has already begun.
As I reflect on all we have accomplished together this year, I can’t help but always ask whether what we’ve done has contributed to the greater good of our community. This academic year, I believe firmly our university today is better than it was in August.
