Deborah Jin, an adjoint professor of physics at the 麻豆影院 and a fellow of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, has been awarded the L鈥橭r茅al-UNESCO For Women in Science award. Jin also is a fellow of JILA, a joint institute of CU-麻豆影院 and NIST located on the CU campus. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate students and was one of five recipients who each will receive $100,000 at an awards ceremony in Paris next March. She was the only recipient in North America.

What is gender violence and how can it be prevented? The answers to these questions are discussed in presentations by Sean Connell, the gender violence prevention and education assistant for Community Health and the Office of Victim Assistance . Gender violence can be difficult to define, but it is generally considered a term to describe interpersonal violence that is gender based. So, what does that mean?

Archaeology is everywhere you turn as the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History , the Archaeological Institute of America , CU Anthropology and Classics departments join together to celebrate National Archaeology Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20.

Six University of Colorado faculty members will be named Distinguished Professors, the most prestigious honor for faculty at the university. The 2012 CU-麻豆影院 honorees are: Christopher N. Bowman, Ph.D., James 鈥淐asey鈥� Hynes, Ph.D., and Pierre Schlag, J.D.

麻豆影院 75 faculty, staff and students shared concerns about concealed carry policies and how the university communicates them in a town hall meeting in the UMC鈥檚 Aspen Room Wednesday afternoon. CU-麻豆影院 officials including Chancellor DiStefano, Provost Moore, Managing Senior Associate Counsel John Sleeman, Commander Robert Axmacher from the CU Police Department and the Chancellor鈥檚 Chief of Staff Catherine Shea listened to questions and entertained a community discussion on how Colorado鈥檚 concealed carry law applies to CU-麻豆影院.
