Two Â鶹ӰԺ undergraduate student teams have been named among the 11 top winners from a field of 5,636 teams that entered the 2013 international Mathematical Contest in Modeling this spring. Only 375 teams, or 6 percent of those entering the contest, were from the United States. The others were from Canada, China, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Mexico, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Sex apparently is like income: People are generally happy when they keep pace with the Joneses and they’re even happier if they get a bit more. That’s one finding of Tim Wadsworth, an associate professor of sociology at the Â鶹ӰԺ, who recently published the results of a study of how sexual frequency corresponds with happiness. As has been well documented with income, the happiness linked with having more sex can rise or fall depending on how individuals believe they measure up to their peers, Wadsworth found.

CU-Â鶹ӰԺ to receive $36 million from NASA for space weather mission
