20 Percent Of CU Study Abroad Students Come From College Of Business

More CU-Â鶹ӰԺ business students study abroad through campus-sponsored programs than students in any other major or field of study, according to the Study Abroad Office. During the 1999-2000 academic year, 98 business majors - or approximately 20 percent of all CU students who studied abroad - participated in a CU-sponsored study abroad program.

Anne Flint Anne Flint will receive a bachelor's degree in history at CU-Â鶹ӰԺ on May 11, after a 30-year effort that included five schools, a cross-country move and the birth of a son. Flint, 48, started school with the notion of becoming a professor, but that goal changed as life went on, she said. Never losing sight of her ultimate goal, however, she has chipped away at it bit by bit.

Law School Alumni To Be Honored At Awards Banquet

The University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ School of Law will hold its 20th Annual Alumni Awards Banquet on May 5 at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. The ceremony, which will honor alumni for "distinguished achievement," begins with dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by the presentation of awards an hour later. Dean Hal Bruff will open the program and Don P. Brown, Jr. ('89), chair of the Law Alumni Board, will be the master of ceremonies. Folllowing are this year's recipients:

$7500 Scholarship Granted To CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Math, Physics Major

James Barron, a junior at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ, has been honored with the 2001-2002 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. Barron currently holds a 3.94 GPA as a double major in physics and math, and plans to graduate in May 2002 and then attend graduate school. Barron also is performing high-energy physics research with Professor Uriel Nauenberg in the physics department. The $7,500 award is one of 302 granted to undergraduate sophomores and juniors from across the nation and Puerto Rico, and one of five from within Colorado.

CU-Â鶹ӰԺ College Of Business Undergraduates Compete For $5,000 In Business Plan Competition

A landscaping layout tool based on global positioning system technology, a vending machine that develops and prints photos and a furniture and interior design store targeted at college students are among the eight business ideas that may qualify to compete for $5,000 on May 2. Students who created these plans and others will participate in the Spring 2001 Undergraduate Business Plan Competition at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ College of Business.

CU School Of Law To Graduate 167 Students

Three important events will mark the graduation of 167 students on May 11 at the University of Colorado School of Law commencement. The endowment of the J.J. Witt Memorial Law Scholarship will be announced; Gail Klapper will receive the Honorary Order of the Coif; and Jim Hightower, a man profiled on the CBS news show "60 Minutes" and listed by the National Journal as one of the 150 individuals "who make a difference," will give the keynote address.

Latino Youth Conference Held At CU-Â鶹ӰԺ May 2

More than 300 Chicano, Latino and black high school students from the Â鶹ӰԺ Valley School District will gather at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ for the fourth annual Latino Youth Conference on Wednesday, May 2. The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University Memorial Center. Participating schools include Arapahoe Ridge, Â鶹ӰԺ High, Broomfield High, Centaurus High, Fairview High, Monarch High, Nederland High and New Vista High.

Vietnam's Integration Into Global Market Topic Of CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Lecture

University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ history Professor Robert Schulzinger will give a public talk Wednesday, May 9, at 7 p.m., about the opportunities and challenges of Vietnam's integration into the global market. Schulzinger's talk, "The United States and Vietnam Today: Globalization on Trial," is free and open to the public and is part of the Chancellor's Community Lecture Series. The talk will be in the Chapel at The Academy building at 970 Aurora Ave. in Â鶹ӰԺ.

NBC Sports Reporter Jim Gray To Address Journalism School Graduates On May 10 At CU
