Chris has experience winning High School coach of the year with Monarch's rugby program, and seeing competitive success with them as well. He functions as a general operations manager and attack coach, as well as head coach for the team.

Lineout Specialist John Cox Ìý
John Cox began his rugby career playing for Buffalo State College from 1995-1997.ÌýÌýHe was a Northeast Collegiate All Star in ’96 and ’97 and a Collegiate All American in both 7s and 15s in 1997.ÌýFrom there he moved on to the Buffalo Old Boys where he played in ’97 and ’98. John left New York for Colorado in 1999 and played 15s for the Denver Barbarians from 1999-2004.ÌýJohn was named Super League Championship MVP in 1999 when the Barbos beat Belmont Shore 22-18. John played 7s for Denver from 2000-2006 as well.ÌýÌýAfter his Super League career wrapped up, John began playing for the Misfits 15s in 2007. Other notable team selections include the Midwest Men’s Select Side in ’98, EARFU Select Side in ’99 and ’00, US Atlantis 7s ’99-’01, US Stingrays 7s ’02-’05 and US Cougars 7s ’05.Ìý John coached for the first time in 2017 in Superior for the youth 7s, the second Monarch Rugby Club, and now CU.
Scrum Specialist Rich Lair Ìý
Coach Rich played his first rugby match in 86’ for the University of Montana Jesters as a B-side fill in (even though he was a junior in high school) and has loved the game ever since. He has played for several clubs over the years, University of Nevada, Reno Zephyr’s, Â鶹ӰԺ Rugby, Marauders RFC and various Old Boy’s teams over the years. He has coached in Superior for 7 seasons and enjoys working with young men and women to teach them the best game on the planet! While in Reno he was part the 08’ National Championship team. The moment Monarch won the high school championship will always be one of his fondest memories and one he will never forget.
Rich’s favorite players are Os Durant (SA) Sebastian Chabal (France) Stirling Mortlock (Aus) Jason Robinson (Eng) and Imanol Harinordoquy (France).
