The Helen and Val Fischer Award

The purpose of this award is to honor four graduating seniors each year who have displayed superior scholarship and who plan to teach or pursue research in sociology, economics, political science, or anthropology. One student is recognized in each field of study from faculty nominations. The winner in sociology is decided upon by the Undergraduate Committee of the Department of Sociology.

The Jim Downton Award

This award recognizes the student with the most outstanding record of combined service to the community and academic excellence. The recipient is decided upon by the Undergraduate Committee of the Department of Sociology based on faculty nominations.

Sociology Scholarship 

Applicant Criteria: 

  • Declared Sociology Major
  • Current Sophomore 
  • Financial Need 

 $1000 will be awarded to scholarship recipient for both their junior and senior years. 

Deadline for nominations for all awards is typically March 15.
