Academics
The QEI initiative includes several education activities running in parallel to the research goals. Quantum technologies have applications in quantum-enhanced sensors, quantum communications, and quantum computing. The goal is to introduce students to the fundamentals of quantum theory and explore all the major hardware platforms.Â
Programs
The quantum engineering minor provides a unique overview of the field and is part of a larger campus-wide effort to make quantum theory accessible to non-physics majors as we seek to build the state and national quantum workforce.
The minor is open to students from STEM backgrounds, regardless of major or college.Â
Course work includes
- Foundations of Quantum Engineering
- Foundations of Quantum Hardware
- Introduction to Quantum Computing
The Quantum Scholars program provides a scholarship and learning opportunity connecting students with local industry. Students earn a prestigious award, get in on the fast-track to internships in the quantum sector in the state, and build community with like-minded students, staff and faculty.
