iSAT’s PI, Sidney D’Mello, spoke as part of The TRIADS Speaker Series hosted by Washington University in St. Louis, which showcases cutting-edge data science research from leading scholars at Washington University and beyond. Each event focuses on a pressing social issue and this one was titled From Learning Optimization to Learner Flourishing: Reimagining AI in Education at the Institute for Student-AI Teaming (iSAT). He shared how iSAT is advancing use-inspired and foundational AI research in speech, computer vision, human-agent teaming, computer-supported collaborative learning, expansive co-design, and the science of broadening participation to design and study next-generation AI Partners embedded in student collaborative learning teams in coordination with teachers.
