CORE Membership & Housing

The Collegiate Recovery Community (CUCRC) is open to all CU Â鶹ӰԺ community members who are in recovery or seeking recovery from a wide range of behaviors, including substance use.

Our CORE Membership program provides students an opportunity to join a close-knit recovery community and access additional support resources like sober housing.


Our CORE Membership program is designed to offer additional support resources and benefits to students who show a personal commitment to their recovery.

 

Eligibility


CORE Membership is open to undergraduate, graduate and transfer students who demonstrate:

  • A personal commitment to recovery
  • Active participation in a program or practice that supports recovery (e.g. 12-step programs, etc.)
  • Interest in being part of a recovery community, sharing experiences and accountability, and being of service to others

All applicants are required to complete an application and review process. 

Please note: Allies are welcome to participate in most programs but are not eligible for CORE Membership or benefits.

 

Membership benefits


CORE members have access to the following benefits:

  • Part of a strong, healthy, connected and supportive recovery community
  • After-hours access to the CUCRC lounge
  • Member-only swag
  • Eligibility for and student employment opportunities, including work study
  • Eligibility to apply for CORE sober housing program
  • Service, leadership and professional development opportunities
  • Advocacy and support services
  • Additional recovery services upon request

 

Expectations


CORE members are expected to:

  • Attend at least one CRC meeting each week
  • Sign a recovery agreement and commit to upholding community values.
  • Participate in at least one CRC community event, service project or outreach activity each semester
  • Have individual check-ins with CRC staff as needed

To apply for CORE Membership, you will need to complete the following:

  • Membership application (includes CORE Housing application)
  • Attend a personal interview with CRC staff

CORE members that are abstinent from alcohol and other drugs are eligible live in sober housing units near campus.

 

Eligibility


CORE Housing is open to:

  • Full-time freshman, transfer, undergraduate and graduate students who have been accepted as CORE members
  • Six months continuous sobriety from all alcohol and other drugs preferred

 

Housing information


  • Located within Graduate & Family Housing development
  • Unfurnished two-bedroom apartments with full kitchen, living room, bathroom and laundry on site
  • Standard CU housing rates apply

Application process


To apply for CORE Housing, you will need to complete the following:

  • Step 1: Email cucrc@colorado.edu or call 303-492-9642 to discuss your interest and obtain application materials.
  • Step 2: Submit an application to become a CORE member.
  • Step 3: Set up a personal interview with a CUCRC program staff (in-person or virtual).
  • Step 4: Students that qualify to live in CORE Housing will be placed through CU Housing & Dining Services.

 

Selection process


CORE Housing units are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. 

If all available spots are full, CORE members often live with other sober roommates on or off campus. CORE members also have the option to join the CORE Housing waitlist.

Please note: CORE members can still participate in all other CORE programs, even if they are not living in CORE Housing.
