Shareholder Advocacy & SALT
First Peoples deploys the tools and strategies of shareholder advocacy in line with Indigenous Peoples’ self-determined goals.
Shareholder advocacy is an important tool for Indigenous Peoples to join collaboratively with allied investors to shift corporate behavior. The strength of shareholder advocacy is that engagements can be tailored to match Indigenous Peoples’ priorities and self-determined goals.
For Indigenous leaders who want to engage directly with investors and companies to avoid or eliminate negative impacts from projects, First Peoples provides research, education, and Shareholder Advocacy Leadership Training (SALT) tailored to the specific issues and interests of concern.
