- The Â鶹ӰԺ Faculty Assembly has recognized Assistant Professor Bethany Wilcox for her outstanding classroom teaching and student mentoring with the 2024 BFA Excellence in Teaching Award.
- Five students in the Quantum Scholars program have been awarded a scholarship in honor of Jennifer Turner-Valle, an alumna of CU Â鶹ӰԺ Physics. The named scholarships are a tribute to Dr. Turner-Valle who passed away in 2023.Â
- Profesor Adjoint of Physics and JILA/NIST Fellow Judah Levine serves as the head of the Network Synchronization Project in the Time and Frequency Division at NIST. He was recently interviewed by Denver 7 and the New York Times about timekeeping, the history of the leap day, and why he's advocating for a leap minute rather than periodically adding leap seconds. - Andrea Ghez, recipient of the 2020 Nobel Prize in physics, will give the 53rd George Gamow Memorial Lecture March 5 at the Â鶹ӰԺ.
- The Quantum Scholars Program has received a big boost in the form of a matching gift from SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics. SPIE has committed to matching $100,000 in external gifts to the program over the next two academic years.

- Tom Baur (Image Credit: Meadowlark Optics)CU Â鶹ӰԺ alumnus Tom Baur was recently named a Fellow of SPIE, the International Society for Optics and Photonics. Tom is among a number of leading scientists named SPIE Fellows in 2024
- The CU Â鶹ӰԺ Society of Physics Students chapter was awarded a 2022-2023 Distinguished Chapter Award from the National Society of Physics Students organization. The award recognizes chapters for efforts including outreach, participation in community service, social events, interactions with alumni, and involvement in SPS programs.
