Daphne Leong鈥檚 got rhythm
When it comes to 20^th- and 21^st-century music,听Professor of Music Theory Daphne Leong鈥攁long with her colleagues in the world of rhythm in music performance and scholarship鈥攅ngages in intense research and endless experimentation, which brought her to Montreal鈥檚 McGill University for a recent residency.听MORE

• Coming up, the CU 麻豆影院 Chamber Orchestra and El Pueblo Ensemble will perform Daniel Valdez鈥檚 sweeping oratorio 鈥淪ong of Pueblo鈥� twice this month. The program is a collaboration with our American Music Research Center鈥檚 multiyear Soundscapes of the People project focused on the music and musical history of Pueblo. Join us for on Oct. 21 (Pueblo Memorial Hall) and Oct. 26 (Grusin Music Hall). Additionally, Valdez will present a lecture on Oct. 25, 4:15-5:30 p.m., in the British Studies Room, Norlin Library.听
• Oct. 25, 7:30 p.m. (S102): . Dutch pianist and composer Henry Kelder will present a fascinating mix of repertoire鈥攆rom Romantic character pieces by Clara Schumann, John Field, Anatoly Liadov, Ottorino Respighi and Amy Beach to music by Dutch composers, including Kelder鈥檚 own pieces.
