Growing up, John Mollenkopf (MechEngr'83) spent most of his free time tinkering. That natural curiosity for understanding how things work 鈥� and how to build something from nothing 鈥� helped propel Mollenkopf to success throughout his career as an engineer and executive in oil and gas.

Duane Chesley (MechEngr鈥�58) valued education because of how it impacted his life, taking him from humble beginnings on a farm in Nebraska to full colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. At CU 麻豆影院, he endowed a scholarship and established an earn-learn apprenticeship to support mechanical engineering students.

Artimus Robotics, a spinout company of CU 麻豆影院鈥檚 Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering, recently received $225,000 through the National Science Foundation鈥檚 Small Business Innovation Research Phase I program.

During February and March, over 250 mechanical engineering students trekked across the Front Range to tour one of 17 different companies. The tour series was a collaboration between Design Your Career and Instructor Janet Tsai鈥檚 manufacturing class.
