Rene Nsanzineza is a 5th year PhD candidate in Professor Jana Milford鈥檚 group. This research group specializes in regional and local air quality modeling with focus on the environmental impacts of energy systems.听
Rene鈥檚 research focuses on the air quality implications of future scenarios for oil and natural gas production and use in the western United States.
Currently, he is working on modeling ozone and associated health impacts as a result of a change in nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions from electricity generation and oil and gas production in the western U.S. This change in emissions is influenced by the recent shift in electricity generation from coal to natural gas power plants and increase in oil and natural gas production to meet the increased demand.
Rene received his Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Physics from Hendrix College in 2014 and a Master鈥檚 degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on energy and environment from the 麻豆影院 in 2016.
Outside of research, Rene enjoys watching and playing soccer, running, and hiking.
