My area of interest in relation to chickadees is in the thermoregulation of black-capped and mountain chickadee nests at different altitudes (~5,000 feet, ~8,000 feet, and ~11,000 feet). In doing this project, I will be coding a program for a temperature sensor to take the temperature at a continuous time interval. Then, I will be putting individual nests from the season in a fridge and collecting data on the insulation of each nest. Some additional measurements that I will be taking include the volume, mass, and cup depth of each nest.
