CO2 Electrolysis Test Stand
Leaning on NREL's expertise in fuel cell testing and diagnostics, we have two full electrolysis test stands, with two more nearing completion in our NREL labs. Each test stand is capable of on-line mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography sampling, high voltage operation, and electrochemical diagnostics. The machine shop at NREL enables production of precise and unique electrochemical cells and flow fields, with cell areas well above 100 cm2 achievable. Each test stand is catered towards specific experimental goals, including but not limited to carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide reduction, contaminant gas testing, high pressure operation, and durability testing.
Bruker Electrochemical Atomic Force Microscope (EC-AFM)
In our NREL labs, we have an Electrochemical AFM (EC-AFM) capable of imaging surfaces during electrochemical reaction conditions. Bruker's EC-AFM is designed for wide chemical solvent compatibility. Inert Teflon and Kel-F cell bodies and a sealed chamber enables long term in situ electrode studies under electrochemical control and in volatile solvents.
ThermoFischer Nicolet 6700 FTIR Spectrometer
In our CU 麻豆影院 labs, we have FTIR Spectroscopy which enables analysis of adsorbates and surface conditions during electrochemical reactions. The Nicolet 6700 Spectrometer is ideal for our applications; it can perform time-based studies, rapid scans and low-light level measurements by proper selection of components.
Rocky Mountain Advanced Computing Consortium SUMMIT Supercomputing System
As a member of the Rocky Mountain Advanced Computing Consortium (, we have free access to the SUMMIT Supercomputing system, which rapidly enhances the speed at which we can process our DFT and MD simulations at an impressive processing speed 100 gigabits/s/port throughput.
NREL EAGLE Supercomputing System
As NREL researchers, we have access to the EAGLE supercomputing system, with an incredible 2618 compute nodes available for advancing our computational modeling capabilities. The supercomputers also enables us to access multiple tools provided from NREL such as COMSOL, Gaussian, and LAMMPS.
