Call for Papers

Are you ready for a brand new quest? The IASGAR invites you to our first conference on video gaming and religion! After establishing an AAR seminar on video gaming and religion and developing our own international academic journal, now we will bring to together a group of multidisciplinary scholars to focus exclusively on video gaming and religion! It will be organized as a post-conference of the biennial International Society for Media and Religion Conference. We invite all researchers who are interested in the relation of video gaming and religion to join us! You don’t have to be a specialist already: You just have to be interested enough in the area to engage in critical thinking and conversation about it. Our aim is to establish and maintain a multidisciplinary network for the discussion of theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of religion and video gaming. The conference will bring international researchers together as we work to collect, systematize, and develop recent multidisciplinary approaches to research and teaching. You will also have an opportunity to try out a virtual reality headset with backpack in an exciting immersive demo and training experience.

The post-conference will be held at the Best Western Plus 鶹ӰԺ Inn, 鶹ӰԺ, in the United States.

We invite proposals for application, which should include the following:
a) names and contact details

b) short description of your current (or future) research project and its relationship to video gaming and religion

We are not going to have a traditional conference paper presentation, but rather a round-table, in which participants will present briefly on their current project or interest.

Proposals for should be sent to: gpgrieve@uncg.edu (Gregory Grieve) and radde@uni-bremen.de (Kerstin Radde-Antweiler).

Are you ready for leveling up? Then please join us in 鶹ӰԺ this year!
