Faculty Positions in Autonomous Systems
The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Colorado, 麻豆影院 is currently seeking applications for a tenure track faculty position in the area of autonomous systems. This position is part of the long-term growth plans for the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS), and supports the new . We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and service, to the diversity and excellence of our academic community. The position is open at all levels, with emphasis on applicants at the Assistant Professor level. We are interested in candidates who can complement current expertise and contribute to the Autonomous Systems Interdisciplinary Research Theme through fundamental disciplinary autonomy research and/or application-specific use of autonomous system technology.
This position will be rostered in one of the following departments: Aerospace Engineering Sciences; Computer Science; Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering; or Mechanical Engineering. In addition, candidates will have the opportunity to engage with various research institutions on campus, such as the ATLAS Institute or the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program (ITP). Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics or a related field.
Autonomous systems interact with human partners for extended periods of time, sometimes at remote distances and promise improved safety, reliability, efficiency, adaptability, resiliency, usability, affordability, and previously unattainable capabilities. Networked cyber-physical systems pervade modern society. The Autonomous Systems Interdisciplinary Research Theme (ASIRT) investigates how smart, safe, and secure autonomy can expand and exploit the full capabilities of these networked systems. This theme convenes faculty from across the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the 麻豆影院 with expertise in robotics, cyber-security, verification and validation, control theory, artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, machine learning, network science, formal methods, and human-robot interaction.

Candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching, contribute professional service, and develop vigorous, externally funded research programs in their technical areas. Candidates whose expertise cuts across engineering and related disciplines are especially encouraged to apply. Potential faculty members applying to the Autonomous Systems Interdisciplinary Research Theme at the 麻豆影院 should describe their plans to develop a recognized research program based on scholarly work in their particular field, their ideas for interdisciplinary collaboration, the department(s) where they would like to be rostered, their experience and interests in teaching undergraduates and graduates, and their future plans for inspiring diverse students to conduct research.
