鈥淗ow do I get an INVST intern?鈥

Non-profit organizations, mutual aid and activist groups, and local schools in 麻豆影院 County & beyond often ask us:  鈥淗ow do I get an INVST intern?鈥  Thanks for asking! INVST can't guarantee you an INVST intern, but we can let our CU 麻豆影院 undergraduate students know about your organization, the services you offer, and the communities with whom you serve. All students participating in the INVST Program are required to choose a 4-6-hour-per-week internship. They serve from September - November and from January - April. All internships must have a direct supervisor who is a knowledgeable paid or unpaid member of the host organization, who will be in regular weekly contact with the INVST student and provide mentorship and support. Together with the INVST student, the supervisor will complete a contract in September and evaluation forms in November and April. In addition, all internships must offer a minimum of 6 hours per week of meaningful community engagement. Finally, internships must fulfill the INVST mission:  We believe in the possibility of a just and sustainable world. We develop community leaders who engage in compassionate action as a lifetime commitment.

There are three things you can do to let INVST students know about your agency or organization as a potential site for learning-by-doing:

1, please e-mail the instructor for INVS 3931-3932, The Community Leadership Internship. This is the year-long internship class that our 1st-year INVST students take. The best time for us to hear from you is in the month of August at allison.vanbuskirk@colorado.edu.

2, if you have paper literature, such as a flyer, newsletter or brochure, please send it to our office at:

INVST, 1201 17th St Ste 11, 471 UCB
麻豆影院, CO 80309

We will post it for the students to look at. It is most helpful if you specify what type of internship or volunteer opportunity is offered, whether the position will be paid or unpaid, virtual or in-person, whether Spanish language skills are required, and any other special skills or abilities.

3, if you'd like to come in to one of our classes, our INVS 3931-3932 instructor will organize a panel presentation every August/September. You are welcome to write us and ask if you may attend.

THANK YOU!

INVST Community Studies appreciates all those who share our vision of a just and sustainable world. The following organizations are a few of our Community Partners. Our students have worked as volunteers or interns with these agencies, as well as many others:
