I study plant adaptationÌýto environmental conditionsÌýthat are highly variable and often unpredictable. I use statistical modeling to predict which adaptive strategies should be favored in response to patternsÌýof water availability in the alpine, and field experiments to empirically test these predictionsÌýin the field.
