The Center聽for Inclusion & Social Change provides information dissemination and referral; educational, cultural and social programming; advocacy and voice for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and allied (GLBTQIA) community at CU聽麻豆影院. The Center聽for Inclusion & Social Change聽serves GLBTQIA students at CU 麻豆影院, although the center can also provide support for faculty and staff. This office works closely with other campus departments, organizations and community groups to provide these programs and services.

Your name will need to be changed in the Human Resources PeopleSoft HCM. To do this, you will need to fill out the official Name Change Procedure and Form and provide a copy this and your Social Security Card with your new legally changed name to the personnel and payroll liaison (PPL) for your department. Your Hr Liaison will change your name in HCM. It takes a few days for the system to register this new information. *Please Note: Once your name is changed in HCM, if you have benefits through CU聽麻豆影院, the system will automatically notify your insurance provider of the change and you will receive new insurance cards reflecting your new name.

For faculty/instructors and advisors who have not changed their name legally, there is also an option to change have your preferred name reflected in Campus Solutions, in class searches, on students鈥 class schedules, and in the Canvas Learning Management System. You must bring your card to the Buff OneCard office located in the Center for Community (C4C) N 180. They will reprint your Buff OneCard with your new name for $5.00. You will need to show a driver鈥檚 license with your new name or if your name has already been changed in the HCM聽(see above), that is sufficient. If you are comfortable working with your department HR liaison, they can assist you in changing your gender marker. However, if you would prefer not to go through your PPL for this matter, you can contact Human Resources (303-492-6893) or hrmail@colorado.edu to assist you.

Currently, there is no official form to fill out to change your gender marker. However, you must provide a legally recognized piece of identification that states your new gender. Acceptable forms of identification include:

  • Drivers License
  • Passport
  • Revised Birth Certificate

Only one of these documents is necessary. Once provided with the documentation, your PPL or HR liaison will change your gender marker in the HCM system. *Please Note: Your PPL or the HR liaison must contact the Benefits Office聽(303-860-4200, option 3) 聽to notify them聽of the gender marker change. The Benefits office聽will then work with your insurance provider to ensure that your gender marker is changed appropriately in their records..

Email Address:

Once your name has been officially changed in PeopleSoft HCM, you can contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at 303-735-HELP to change your email address. OIT will continue to forward you emails that are sent to your old email address.

Caller ID:

To change your name as it appears when you dial out from your office telephone, contact your IT/Telecom liaison for your department. The IT/Telecom liaison can make this change for you online.

Directory Information:

The CU聽麻豆影院 People Search Directory will automatically update your new name a few days after your department HR liaison聽changes your name in the Human Resources PeopleSoft HCM. For the A to Z Directory, your PPL will need to manually update that information with your new name. If you have not legally changed your name, but would prefer another name to be reflected in the campus directory, you can contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at 303-735-HELP. They will assist you in creating a 鈥渘ickname鈥 in place of your first name for the campus directory only.

There are several offices that can assist you, your supervisor(s), and your coworkers regarding your transition. Each situation is unique and the employee should feel comfortable working with whatever resource they prefer. Employee聽Relations, the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, the Office of Faculty Affairs, and the GLBTQ Resource Center are all great resources for an individual or a department to consult with about an employee鈥檚 transition and best practices to respect the rights and privacy of the individual who is transitioning.
