The Department of Human Resources-Organization and Employee Development offers a full suite ofÌýCliftonStrengthsâ„¢ workshops to CU Â鶹ӰԺ faculty and Staff.Ìý

CliftonStrengthsâ„¢ Introduction

CliftonStrengthsâ„¢ Introduction seminar provides an opportunity for CU Â鶹ӰԺ employees to identify their natural talents by taking the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment. During this interactive workshop participants will learn to develop their talents into strengths. These strengths will allow participants to continue developing in their career and enhance working relationships.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Recognize their top five talents and discover their meaning
  • Explain their top five talents to others
  • Identify strategies to develop talents into strengths
  • Compare ‘balconies’ & ‘basements’ associated with each strengths
  • Use four domains to strengthen working relationships

Cost

There is a one-time $12 assessment fee to take the CliftonStrengths assessment. There is no cost to attend the workshops once you have taken the assessment. However, taking the assessment once is required to attend the workshops.Ìý

This course is intended for individuals at all levels of the organization who would benefit from having a deeper understanding of their individual talents and continuing to develop in a way that contributes exponentially to their work and team.

CliftonStrengthsâ„¢ in Supervision for Faculty and StaffÌý

conducted by Gallup, managers and supervisors account for at least 70% variance in employee engagement scores. With less than one-third of Americans engaged in their jobs in any given year, it’s important for supervisors to maintain consistent communication with their employees and help them develop through their strengths. Attend this interactive session to understand how to apply supervision strengths-based supervision strategies, create a culture of trust and conversation built around what people do best and create a shared language to discuss progress, evaluations, and employee successes.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Explain how their top 5 strengths influence their supervision
  • Understand principles of strengths-based supervision
  • Ask strengths-based questions in regular and agreed upon meetings
  • Implement at least one new strategy with their direct reports

This course is intended for managers and supervisors who want to incorporate a strengths-based approach, focusing on what people do well, in their management style and among their teams. Participants must have previously taken strengths and attending Strengths Introduction or a similar introduction session

CliftonStrengthsâ„¢ in One-on-One ConversationsÌý

This interactive CliftonStrengths in one-on-one conversations will expand participants’ knowledge of all 34 talents to become champions to strengths in others. ÌýParticipants will learn the fundamentals of holding a successful one-on-one strengths-based conversation. Skills practiced in this workshop will help participants hold conversations with peers, teams or employees to help them aim their talents to accomplish a specific goal.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Increase appreciation and understanding of strengths outside of your top 5 Strengths
  • Learn tools to assist in holding Strengths-based conversations
  • Practice the skills of holding a successful strengths-based conversation

This course is intended for staff and faculty looking to implement a culture of strengths-based development in their unit or team. One-on-one conversations can be used in team projects, with peers or employees you supervise or with students.

Strengths Coaching

CU Â鶹ӰԺ employeesÌýhave the opportunity to schedule hour-long coaching sessions with a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach.ÌýThese coaching sessions help employees to understand their Signature Themes in a meaningful way, enabling them to create strategies and solutions that allow them to learn, grow, develop and succeed here at CU Â鶹ӰԺ.

These employee-driven coaching conversations can be focused on a variety of different topics to support employees including personal/professional development, closing skills gaps, and working towards defined goals or outcomes. Through intentional development and application of their identified Strengths, individuals can improve their ability to build relationships, manage daily responsibilities, influence and respond to others, and think about and process information.

Prerequisite: You must have completed the CliftonStrengths Assessment and attended a Strengths workshop.
