All college organizational (org) charts have now been transitioned to Microsoft Visio. Live training on the tool was offered in January, and links to organizational charts and supplemental training resources were subsequently sent to all units and department leads and HRLs. Please verify that your team鈥檚 organizational charts are up-to-date and that they follow the appropriate standards for the upcoming organizational planning efforts.

As a reminder, these updates were due March 1. If you need help accessing or updating your team鈥檚 org chart, or have general questions, please reach out to the CEAS HR team at CEASHR@colorado.edu.听

To better manage position change requests for staff throughout the college, CEAS HR requests that supervisors and/or human resources liaisons (HRLs) seek to formally request change by submitting a Change Request Form.

Change Request Forms should be initiated by a supervisor or HRL on behalf of a staff employee within the College of Engineering & Applied Science. They can be requested for the following scenarios:

• Requesting a staff promotion
• Requesting a salary adjustment for a staff employee (without promotion)
• Requesting a new staff position (i.e. new headcount)
• Requesting to backfill a vacant staff position
• Requesting a new supervisor for a staff employee

By having supervisors or HRLs request approval for these HR functions through the Change Request Form, we are creating a system in which all requests go through a standardized approval process, and requests are reviewed and approved equitably through a data-driven process.

All supervisors and HRLs should have received an email with instructions for how to proceed with submitting new position change requests. For any questions regarding this form, please contact CEASHR@colorado.edu or attend the CEAS HR Virtual Office Hours every other Tuesday.听听

CEAS HR is still accepting applications for professional development funding; however, funds for FY 2023-34 are almost depleted. To make the most of this opportunity, please consider submitting any request for the remainder of the fiscal year as soon as possible. As a reminder, funding of up to $500 per staff member per fiscal year is available on a first-come first-served basis.听

If you miss the window for applying for professional development funds this current FY 2023-24, please know that FY 2024-25 funding applications will open July 1.听

Nate Coyle, Aerospace Machine Shop & Fabrication Instructional Lab Coordinator - AES:听Nate has continuously taken on increasing roles of managing the machine shop and its student employees, helping the central department administrative staff, and assisting Sam with building operations. Nate is in-person every day, and was so throughout the pandemic, a true essential employee. His demeanor is infectious, and everyone enjoys听interacting with Nate. He provides a positive and robust learning experience for hundreds of students. Our community thrives due to contributions from people like Nate.

Sarah Merry, Undergraduate Academic Advisor - CMU/CU 麻豆影院 Engineering Partnership Program: Sarah Merry has quickly become an integral part of our CMU/CU 麻豆影院 Engineering Partnership Team. She has gone above and beyond this semester in her support of our students. This includes exemplary performance in putting in the time and work required to take on two large projects simultaneously: individual advising appointments and reviewing plans of study/graduation plans for students in our Introduction to Engineering course. Additionally, she has brought an innovative and creative mindset to social events with students, planning our first-ever 鈥楩riendsgiving鈥� for engineering students, staff, and faculty, which was attended by more than 150 people. She鈥檚 consistently looking to improve her skill set and recently got back from a Motivational Interviewing Training which has already positively impacted her interactions with students. We鈥檙e so lucky to have Sarah on staff!

From Ayleen Perez (CRSA/CEAE): The Construction Safety Research Alliance holds five quarterly research team meetings on campus. Each team has 20-something members who fly into town from all over North America to attend their team's meeting in person. We were getting ready to launch two new research projects the week of Feb. 12 and we ended up assembling teams that were larger than we had planned so the meeting rooms we had reserved would no longer be suitable! It was Friday, Jan. 19! The meetings were less than a month away and we needed to reserve two rooms for 35 to 38 people to meet from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and they had to have the right specs (AV, allow catering, etc). Rebecca Rico happened to send me a Teams message to say 鈥渉ello鈥� and I explained to her the mission I was on! She immediately logged into EMS to help me search. A couple of hours later she let me know she had moved the Faculty Stories event from its usual home in the Discovery Learning Center so that the CSRA could use the space which was bigger than what they truly needed. Now, this would have come with an inconvenience to her and the rest of the team that hosts Faculty Stories, but she said it would be a bigger inconvenience if the CSRA couldn't reserve the space they needed, and everyone was on board. She also reserved another room that I had been told was not available! The meetings came around and the CSRA was able to comfortably welcome 57 new team members to our research community. Thank you, CEAE Faculty Stories crew and participants for your flexibility and thank you, Rebecca, for being an amazing colleague and reminding us that helping each other, even across teams and departments, is essential to our organization's growth. I look back at that Friday and instead of remembering stress, I remember I was helped.
