The CU �鶹ӰԺ Hyperloop team will be showing off their machine before they head to the 2023 Not-A-Boring Competition finals, where they are one of only two U.S. finalists. They are excited to show off the hands-on learning opportunities CU Engineering enables and walk visitors through the design and manufacturing of their 2,000-pound tunnel boring machine. 

The BOLD Scholars selection process and application review is March 20-29. In addition to contributing to DEI efforts in the BOLD Center, it’s a prime professional development and service opportunity. The process is electronic, and detailed instructions and a rubric are provided. Readers have a week and a half to review their list of applicants.

Lewis-Burke Associates, federal relations consultants for the University of Colorado, will host a webinar to provide an overview of diversity, equity and inclusion priorities across the federal government. The session will provide insight and recommendations on opportunities that directly support campus DEI efforts, support for DEI-oriented research, and the need to consider DEI in pursuing larger team or center awards. Advance registration is required.

Tuesday, March 21. 6-7 p.m., BOLD Center
The CU �鶹ӰԺ Society of Women Engineers chapter is hosting an intended to provide SWE members an opportunity to meet others from their major in a casual setting over coffee and snacks. This year, they would like to invite faculty to participate to give members a chance to get to know women-identifying faculty in their programs. .

Applications for seed grants from the Engineering Education and AI-Augmented Learning Interdisciplinary Research Theme are being accepted through April 2. The 2023 grant program will support research grants ($20,000 to $50,000), proposal writing grants (including up to four weeks of summer salary), and travel grants. Robyn Sandekian, director of faculty advancement, will be facilitating this training on behalf of the American Society for Engineering Education. This workshop will describe the concepts and implications of privilege and bias, discuss the climate for LGBTQ+ individuals in STEM and ways that allies can support LGBTQ+ students and colleagues, and explore techniques for creating inclusive classroom environments. .

Wednesday, April 12. 12:15-1:15 p.m., ECCS 201
This session will provide a chance to hear from and have conversations with leading experts on the technical areas underlying ChatGPT and other generative AI, the uses of generative AI in university and K-12 education, and the ethical and societal issues associated with generative AI tools. It will feature brief presentations by and ample time for audience questions with a distinguished panel.
