What have been some meaningful ways in which you have felt welcomed to CEAS?

I identify as LGBTQ+ and have a husband, who also works in the college. From day 1, we have appreciated that our departments, programs, and the college invites spouses, partners, and significant others to most social events. It has helped us both feel welcomed and part of the CEAS community.

How do you enjoy practicing self-care and/or community care?

I try to exercise for an hour a day at least five times a week. It really helps me gain and maintain focus in all aspects of my life.

What is a motto or quote that you hold dear and why?

You miss 100% of the shots you never take. It propels me to take risks when I begin to doubt myself and my abilities.

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

Thailand has been my favorite place (so far). The people are wonderful, and the food is hands down the absolute best.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I grew up on a cattle ranch and cotton farm in Texas. No, I didn’t own a horse, but I did raise grand champion chickens for the county fair!

One thing you’re willing to spend way too much on . . .

Tasting menus at really nice restaurants — with the wine pairing of course.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Honestly? Watching every single episode of the Real Housewives franchise.
