Dorothy Noble, Senior Professional Research Assistant and Laboratory Manager in the Environmental Engineering Laboratories at SEEC
Managing such a large, diverse group and supporting a shared lab environment not only involves providing the business structure for safe and consistent lab operations but also includes fostering collaboration and positive group dynamics. On the business end, Dorothy creates and updates policies and procedures for lab safety, bench space use and overall laboratory use. She also manages the budget, gives lab tours, oversees the shared instrumentation program and the teaching lab, assists students and faculty solve problems and gathers the resources they need to conduct their research. Dorothy continually strives to make everyone feel welcome, inspired and have everything they need to conduct their research. Her research interest and experience revolve around disinfection by-product formation for regulated and unregulated compounds to support water treatment techniques that promote safe drinking water.

I’d love to meet Oprah because…well she’s Oprah!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I’m a mom of three great and very busy kids. I love to travel, go to the theatre and do anything outdoors, hike, paddleboard, kayak, climb 14ers, backpack, camp, ski, snowshoe etc. I do bootcamp workouts, yoga and kickboxing regularly. I love date nights with my husband and get-togethers with friends that involve wine, good food and laughter.
