Each year, the American Educational Research Association Annual Meeting represents the world's largest gathering of education researchers and is a showcase for groundbreaking, innovative research. We are looking forward to the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting that will take place in Chicago, IL, April 13-16 and virtually May 4-5. Wendy Glenn selected for President鈥檚 Teaching Scholars Program

University of Colorado President Todd Saliman recently welcomed the two newest members of the President鈥檚 Teaching Scholars Program, including CU 麻豆影院 Education Professor Wendy Glenn. The program recognizes faculty from across CU's four campuses who skillfully integrate teaching and research at an exceptional level. Glenn is a professor of literacy studies and chair of the Secondary Humanities Teacher Licensure program in the CU 麻豆影院 School of Education.

鈥嬧婥U 麻豆影院鈥檚 Derek Briggs named American Educational Research Association Fellow

CU 麻豆影院 Education Professor Derek Briggs is one of just 24 exemplary scholars nationwide to be named a 2023 Fellow of the American Educational Research Association, the country鈥檚 largest interdisciplinary research association devoted to the study of education and learning. Briggs is a professor in the School of Education鈥檚 Research and Evaluation Methodology program, where he is also the director of the Center for Assessment Design Research and Evaluation.

Join alumna, activist Christine Ahn for screening of her documentary about Korea's DMZ peacemakers

On March 15, Christine Ahn, an INVST Community Studies alumna and Nobel Peace Prize Social Activist Awardee, will lead a discussion following the public screening of the "Crossings" documentary about 30 women peacemakers and activists who crossed the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) between North and South Korea calling for an end to a 70-year war that has divided Korea and its people.

CU 麻豆影院 teacher preparation programs receive high praise, full reauthorization by the state

At the Colorado Board of Education February meeting, all of the CU 麻豆影院 School of Education鈥檚 teacher preparation programs were lauded and received sweeping reauthorization following a state review. All 10 of the CU 麻豆影院 teacher endorsement programs earned full reauthorization and the program was praised for its 鈥渢rue partnerships鈥 benefiting student teachers and partner schools.

Building renaming to honor legacies of Ofelia Miramontes, Leonard Baca

The CU regents approved the renaming of the Fleming Building to honor two pioneering education leaders and former faculty members whose teaching, research and service supported the academic success of generations of students and advanced educational equity and justice. The pair鈥檚 leadership helped lay the groundwork for efforts to build a more inclusive campus.

Undergraduate testifies about the financial burdens student teachers face

CU 麻豆影院 sophomore Lauren Levey testified in front of the Colorado House Education Committee, speaking in personal terms about the challenges she鈥檚 faced as an aspiring teacher. Levey, an elementary education major and leadership studies minor, was a witness at a hearing discussing a new and potentially expanding stipend program for student educators in Colorado.

Ann Miller Scott honored for dedication, service to the university

Ann Miller Scott鈥檚 career can be characterized by her limitless support for education and her alma mater, the 麻豆影院. Her devotion to CU 麻豆影院 was recognized with an Alumni Recognition Award as part of the 2022 Annual Alumni Awards, one of CU 麻豆影院's longest-standing traditions.
