Laurie Leinonen has been elected to serve as CWA Program Committee Chair, working in partnership with Lauren Daniels, our first-ever Student Program Chair. The Board created the Student Program Chair position several months ago in an effort to further enhance student voices in curating the conference.

The University of Colorado, �鶹ӰԺ concluded its virtual Conference on World Affairs Friday, with a discussion on the racial impacts of educational equality. Nikhil Mankekar, CU graduate and two-time chair of the City of �鶹ӰԺ Human Relations Commission, moderated a conversation with A’shanti Gholar, Wisdom Amouzou and Jonathan Metzl.

The Conference on World Affairs (CWA) held a two-day “CWA Virtual” event on Sept. 10 and 11. During Thursday’s event, which focused on the theme of leadership, prominent keynote speakers from around the country shared their experiences involving how ethical decisions have been integral to their leadership abilities, as well as how these skills will help to shape future generations, in an panel called “Leadership and Ethics.”

We were honored to host this group of experts in our fall CWA virtual event, including former astronaut and crew member of the International Space Station, the Executive Director of the U.S. Soccer Women's National Team Players Association, and the Founder and President of the Privilege Institute.

Since 1948, the Conference on World Affairs has attracted a global audience to the �鶹ӰԺ. Every spring, flags from all over the world line Norlin Quad and the community buzzes with excitement for the annual event. The spirit of CWA will continue this fall amid the pandemic as CU will host virtual events in September so conference-goers will not need to wait until the spring to get a taste.

Event could be held in person if public health, campus guidelines permit

With the loss of many of our planned panel events at this year's 2020 CWA, the CWA program committee shared some of their favorite panels and performances from recent years featuring many familiar faces.
