We are committed to long-term collections care and regularly undertake conservation of our permanent collection, working with a variety of different conservators who adhere to the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice of the. Conservation of our objects is designed to be as true to the original object and its context as possible; this often means not restoring an object to its original condition in order to preserve the object’s research potential for our faculty, staff and students.

Recent conservation projects include paintings and works on paper for our 2014 American West exhibition, plus ceramics and textile conservation in our Ancient and Classical Collection.
