NFL veteran聽Deon Figures聽(Soc鈥93) was inducted into the 2014 CU Athletic Hall of Fame. As a Buff, he was an All-American Defensive Player of the Year in 1992 and won the Jim Thorpe Award. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected him as a first-round draft pick in the 1993 NFL draft.

Last year Burt Rashbaum (MEngl) wrote The Ones That I Know, a novel about loss among a group of baby boomers, and a volume of his poetry was published, Blue Pedals. He also is the author of a novel about Alzheimer鈥檚 disease, Tear for My Mother, and a volume of short fiction, Becoming an American. Burt worked for CU from 1976 to 2007

Brian Watson (RelEst) is founder and CEO of Northstar Commercial Partners, a commercial real estate company in Denver. The company has turned its focus to converting vacant properties and other structures into charter schools. The company was featured in the Wall Street Journal in October 2015.

颁辞尘尘补苍诲别谤听John Plumb聽(MPhys; PhDAeroEngr鈥03)聽is running for Congress in聽New York鈥檚 23rd district.聽He was commissioned as聽an officer in the U.S. Navy聽and spent more than six聽years on active duty, with聽almost three years on the聽fast attack submarine USS聽San Juan. He has since聽worked in the Senate, the聽Pentagon and the White聽House. John received the聽Arctic Service Ribbon for聽spending more than 28聽days north of the Arctic聽Circle. John is still in the聽Navy reserves, serving as聽commanding officer for the聽Maritime Operations Center聽reserve detachment.

Lyn Schenbeck (DMus)聽is retiring after more than聽40 years as an educator. In聽2013, she was named the聽Coweta County Teacher聽of the Year. In addition to聽teaching, Lyn has performed as a singer and聽conductor throughout聽the U.S. and Europe. She聽has also been an active聽member of the National聽Academy of Recording Arts聽and Sciences, the organization known for the Grammy聽Awards, for 25 years.

In 2014 Clint Folsom (Bus) was elected mayor of Superior, Colo., and has entered the second half of his four-year term. Clint owns Folsom & Company Real Estate and manages several rental properties in 麻豆影院 that are leased to CU students. During his time at CU, Clint was a member of the 1988 Presidents Leadership Class and is still an active supporter of the program. Clint and his wife, Leslie, have two children who attend schools in Superior.

Brad Montgomery Anderson (Eur, Fren) and the University of Oklahoma Press won the Bloomfield Book Award for 2017 for Brad鈥檚 book Cherokee Reference Grammar. The book is the first major reference work on the Cherokee in more than 35 years.

New Mexico native Michael L. Connor (Law), former deputy secretary of the Department of the Interior, joined Boston-based law firm WilmerHale. He focuses on environmental compliance, natural resources and Native American law. While not an enrolled member of the Taos Pueblo tribe that his grandfather was part of, Michael is considered the first person of American Indian ancestry to hold one of the Interior Department鈥檚 top two posts.

Serial entrepreneur, inventor聽and search-and-rescue聽volunteer聽Steve Jewett聽(Geog) is founder of聽Clean Trails, creator of聽National CleanUp Day.聽He is the U.S. host of聽World CleanUp Day,聽which this year is Sept.聽15. Steve has climbed聽all of Colorado鈥檚 fourteeners, plus Denali and聽Aconcagua. On Sept. 15,聽he encourages alumni to聽join 380 million others in聽removing litter or trash聽in their neighborhood,聽park, trail, river, lake,聽open space or favorite聽mountain peak. 鈥淥ur goal聽is elimination of trash/litter to enjoy clean spaces,聽rivers and oceans,鈥 he聽writes.
