Bruce Kawin聽taught聽at CU-麻豆影院 from聽1975 to 2015 in the English Department and the聽Film Studies Program. He received an AB in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia (1967), an MFA in Creative Writing and Filmmaking from Cornell (1969), and a PhD in Modern British and American Literature and Film Aesthetics from Cornell (1970). He wrote several books of film and literary theory, including聽Telling It Again and Again,聽Mindscreen, and聽The Mind of the Novel.

He also wrote three books on Faulkner鈥檚 screenplays and two film textbooks. Every few years he updated a widely used textbook,聽A Short History of the Movies聽(co-authored by the late Gerald Mast). Shortly before retiring, he聽also published a critical study entitled聽Horror and the Horror Film;聽two books聽of poems,聽Love If We Can Stand It聽and聽Starting Over; and a collection of his聽Selected Film Essays and Interviews. 聽

He taught courses in film history, film theory,聽screenwriting, horror in literature and film,聽20th century British and American literature (poetry, prose, and drama), and comparative literature, with special interests in William Faulkner, Gertrude Stein, narrative structure, modern poetry, and the international modern novel.
