Architectural Engineering Capstone Design Winner

The award recognizes outstanding performance by a team of undergraduate students in their capstone design course. The course involves the engineering design of a building by a multidisciplinary student team. The award winner is selected by the faculty and industry mentors who advise the student teams.

Clarence L. Eckel Award

The Clarence L. Eckel Award is given in December to one outstanding graduate and up to two runners up receiving a BS degree in civil or architectural engineering in the fall semester.  The C.L. Eckel award winners are selected by the CEAE Awards Committee from students with high academic standing and contributions to educational and extracurricular activities, including service to engineering student societies and the community. Clarence L. Eckel was CEAE chair from 1926-1943 and dean of the College of Engineering from 1943-1960.

Milo S. Ketchum Award

The Milo S. Ketchum Award is given in May to an outstanding graduate and up to two runners up receiving a BS degree in civil or architectural engineering in the spring semester. The award winners are selected by the CEAE Awards Committee from students with high academic standing and contributions to educational and extracurricular activities, including service to engineering student societies and the community. Between 1904 and 1919, Milo S. Ketchum served as chair for the Department of Civil Engineering and dean of the School of Applied Science (which became the College of Engineering and Applied Science). Ketchum went on to become Dean of Engineering. He received an honorary doctorate from CU in 1927.

Clarence L. Eckel Faculty Prize for Excellence

The Clarence L. Eckel Facuty Prize for Excellence is the department's most prestigious faculty award and honors exceptional achievement by a full professor throughout the faculty member's career. The prize is given biannually and includes an honorarium funded by an endowment from C.K. Wang to honor Professor Eckel. Clarence L. Eckel was CEAE chair from 1926-1943 and dean of the College of Engineering from 1943-1960.

The Student Appreciation Award is given to a faculty member who has made the greatest impact on the academic experience of the graduating undergraduate class. Formally known as the 鈥淔avorite Professor鈥 award, the winners are determined by a vote of the graduating students in the disciplines of architectural engineering, civil engineering, and environmental engineering. Teaching Award

The Teaching Award recognizes a faculty member for outstanding success in teaching. The award winner is selected annually by the CEAE Executive Committee based on research performance in the previous calendar year. Metrics of teaching success include evaluations of teaching performance by faculty and students, curriculum development activities, student mentoring, awards and recognition by peers in the discipline.
