The American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ)

is a national professional organization for the promotion of Japanese language, whose offices are located at the Center for Asian Studies at CU-麻豆影院. AATJ鈥檚 almost 1,000 members, who are located mostly in the United States but also in countries all over the world, teach Japanese language, literature, and culture at all levels of instruction. AATJ publishes a semiannual refereed journal, holds an annual conference, and offers many professional development opportunities for educators, including an online course program. Another major project is the Bridging Project Clearinghouse to promote study abroad in Japan, and the Bridging Scholarship program, which supports study abroad in Japan by about 100 undergraduate students annually. ATJ (the Association of Teachers of Japanese) has merged with a sister organization of primarily K-12 Japanese teachers to become the American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ).
