Ethical Business Crusader Joins CESR

A longtime business-ethics-in-education advocate finally took a well-deserved seat at the CESR board meeting in October.

Decades ago, long before CESR was even born, Tom LaMotte championed the idea of incorporating social responsibility into business education. LaMotte, 鈥63 Management, sat on the Business Advisory Committee (a.k.a. the Leeds Board) in the 80s and 90s and was persistent in his vision to integrate business ethics into the Leeds curriculum. When he met Dean Ikenberry in 2011, LaMotte reiterated his commitment to , declaring that his father would be 鈥渞olling over in his grave鈥 to hear of recent corporate scandals.

鈥淭oday's headlines are full of breaches of ethical business practices. I feel students need to be more sensitive to the ethical 鈥榬ights and wrongs鈥 of the business world, and Leeds鈥 CESR has gone a long way toward answering that need," asserts LaMotte. 鈥淣ow we have what is considered one of the finest programs in social responsibility in the country.鈥

LaMotte is retired from his position as President/Owner of Prime Office Systems in White Plains, NY, an executive suites business providing office space, phones and secretarial services to business people on short-term rentals.
