Giving to Biochemistry

Support for the Biochemistry Department can make a significant impact on student success, research opportunities, and teaching programs. We are grateful to the alumni, faculty, and other friends of the Department who have contributed in the past and continue to make a difference today.

Join us in helping shape the future of this field by contributing support for:

  • Scholarship or fellowship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Retention of outstanding current faculty through named Professorships or Chairs.
  • A means for the department to attract and support talented young faculty, in their early years, who will add tremendous value to the department and CU 麻豆影院.
  • Investment in current and cutting-edge research.
  • Overall department needs that provide flexible funding to address everyday challenges and take on new and exciting opportunities that allow the department to flourish.

As you consider what might be most meaningful for you in supporting Biochemistry at CU 麻豆影院, you can also choose to make quick, and very impactful gifts, by selecting one of the following options. ALL gift amounts are valued by Biochemistry and we appreciate your willingness to be involved and in a sense, pay-it-forward!

Biochemistry Department Support Fund

The Biochemistry Department Support Fund is available for the department chair to use for exciting new initiatives including:

  • new scholarship funds where this support is helpful in recognizing students who are performing well or those who can use a boost to ease the burden;
  • special programs that provide experiential learning for students - or - allow guest speakers to broaden access to diverse science and perspectives;
  • supporting student-led initiatives that give access to the community or provide mentoring for newly arriving students to navigate easier;
  • and other opportunities that come up and were just not anticipated.

Biochemistry Research Endowment Fund

CU 麻豆影院 Biochemistry is known for ground-breaking research, which has often led to entirely new fields of science. The department seeks to build its endowment in research to enable funding for exciting new research programs where federal support is not possible - and where many charitable foundations shy away from early-stage inquiry due to its inherent high-risk and high-reward nature.

Whiteley Lab Research

Biochemistry Engagement Fund

The department often has need for funds to:

  • support the recruitment of highly sought after faculty,
  • to use for appreciation events like scholarship dinners to allow benefactors and their scholarship recipients to meet,
  • and for department activities to enhance faculty and student experiences.

These funds are explicitly used for entertainment and are separated to ensure all policies are strictly adhered to as we recruit, celebrate and provide fun experiences alongside rigorous academics.
