Art & Art History Department Student Job Descriptions
Circulates photo, video, and other equipment. Performs imaging for the department's digital archive. Gains valuable knowledge and professional skills with equipment and digital imaging standards, which our employees often apply to current studies and future positions. The VRC approaches our student positions as long-term paid internships, providing mentorship and professional development guidance at every opportunity.
Outstanding customer service skills, visual acuity, close attention to detail, ability to work independently. Advanced knowledge of photo and video equipment is preferred but will hire and train individuals with enthusiasm to learn. Experience with Lightroom is a plus.
Workstudy: Yes, required
Hourly pay rate: $18 to start with annual raises
Hours/week: Varies with work-study award amount. Generally between 6 and 14 hours per week.
Scheduling: Regular weekly schedule during the fall and/or spring semester, with hours between 9am and 5pm M-F.

Other duties assigned by supervisor as needed. Knowledge and interest in art history, research skills, close attention to detail, visual acuity, ability to work independently. Applicants who have taken art history coursework or who are art history majors are preferred. Experience with Lightroom is a plus.

Hours/week: Varies with work-study award amount. Minimum of 8 hours per week.
Scheduling: Regular weekly schedule during the fall and/or spring semester, with hours between 8am and 5pm M-F. Limited summer positions may be available.

Oversees the metal shop during open hours. Verifies students have taken safety training and assists students working in the shop with a variety of different tasks and processes. The position helps to clean and organize the shop regularly. Other duties or projects may be specified by the supervisor.
Experience working in a metal shop, (in AAH class or out) is preferred but not required. Will train employees as necessary.

Also, must help maintain and clean the Woodshop. Other duties may be specified by the supervisor.

Photo Lab Assistants are responsible for the daily operation of the photography labs. Duties include opening/closing the photography labs, preparing chemistry, printer maintenance and troubleshooting, restocking supplies, assisting students, responding to emergencies, and maintaining the function and cleanliness of the lab. All lab assistants must complete yearly Environmental Health and Safety Hazardous Waste Generator training with a passing grade.
Interest in Photography and basic working knowledge of Photoshop, especially image sizing, is required. Experience with inkjet printers and experience working in a darkroom is preferred. Training is provided.
Work-study: Yes, required

The Print Lab offers large-format printing for campus affiliates. Job duties include: to assist patrons with file preparation and media selection; preparing print images for printing using Adobe Photoshop; invoice and recording transactions; trimming and packaging prints.
Must be proficient in Adobe Photoshop (image & canvas sizing, copying, pasting, creating multi-image layouts). A basic understanding of photography, color profiles, and image quality is preferred.
