The Department of Anthropology at the Â鶹ӰԺ invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in cultural anthropology. We seek a scholar whose research and teaching expertise focus on race and processes of racialization as these impact health and holistic well-being among marginalized communities in the Americas. Successful applicants will possess a record of theoretically attuned ethnographic research, energetic future research plans, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and commitment to public and community-based scholarship. In addition to expertise in race and racialization, areas of expertise might include medical anthropology or public health, with focus on topics like structural marginalization, intergenerational and socioeconomic impacts of racism, inclusion and belonging, the politics of health and well-being, Indigeneity, health inequity, environmental justice, migration and global diasporas, kinship and reproduction, gender and sexuality, language and discourse, and education.Ìý

Internal Review Application for Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology solicits applications for the Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellowship for Diversity Program. This one-year fellowship is designed to lead to a tenure-track assistant professor position. It is a competitive application process, first within the Department, and second within the University. In order to make the process as transparent and fair as possible for applicants, the Department of Anthropology will conduct a formal review process to rank all applicants in October. We are only able to nominate the very top-ranked candidates to the University review committee.

To be considered as a ranked Departmental nominee, all materials (except for the advisor’s letter) must be submitted to the Department of Anthropology by October 1. Please note this is one month ahead of the required University deadline of November 1.

Student Hourly

The Department of Anthropology hires student hourly employees for a variety of purposes. Some faculty hire students to support research activities or for assistance with some courses. Anthropology may also hire students to support the administration of the academic programs. Graduate Student Appointments

Anthropology offers Teaching Assistant (TA) and Graduate Part-Time Instructor ((GPTI) positions to graduate students. TA and GPTI positions are considered graduate student teaching appointments so the compensation, benefits, and responsibilities are different from regular employees.
