Contribute to WGST Student Scholarship Funds!

The Department of Women and Gender Studies offers several scholarships and awards to our students each year. The recipients are chosen by our faculty, to honor the most exceptional students for their academic work, campus activism, and service to the department. Contributing to these funds helps support students with financial need, first-generation college students, and those from underrepresented groups. Learn more about our highly deserving 2020 scholarship recipients -- and be on the lookout for the announcement of our 2021 scholarship awardees in the next issue of Bolder Voices in May!

"Why contribute? "So that we can allow students who come from less-privileged backgrounds the opportunity to have a transformative education, so that they can then make a transformation in society themselves, because we certainly need some of that moving forward. That’s how I see this helping make a little difference." -Dr. Valerio Ferme

Andermarch Cicogna Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Andermarch Cicogna Scholarship provides scholarship support to undergraduate students majoring in women and gender studies and/or Italian, in acknowledgement of the two women for whom the award is named, in the spirit of compassion, understanding, social justice, and academic pursuit. Established by former CU professors Valerio Ferme (pictured left), and his spouse, Giorgio Corda, in honor of their mothers, they shared that "this scholarship is about making sure we continue to provide resources outside of the traditional funding streams so that we can allow students who come from less-privileged backgrounds the opportunity to have a transformative education, so that they can then make a transformation in society themselves, because we certainly need some of that moving forward. That’s how I see this helping make a little difference." Read more about the women for whom this award was named in A&S Magazine.
