Applications are now open for April's I-Corps Starting Blocks Customer Discovery workshop. The program is a 3-day workshop with customer interviews designed to help scientists and engineers of all types find a market for their innovations. The core concept encourages inventors to get out of the lab and talk to industry decision-makers to find out what problem the industry needs their product to solve.

Applications are now open to join the Catalyze CU Summer 2022 cohort. This summer-long startup accelerator program is designed for CU �鶹ӰԺ ventures created by students, faculty and staff. It combines world class mentorship, funding and a dedicated co-working space to help the most promising ventures from across campus reach escape velocity—without taking any equity.

Registration is now open for the NVC Championships! CU �鶹ӰԺ's top student and faculty startups will pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges and a live audience.

Since its inception in 2009, the New Venture Challenge (NVC) program and competition—run out of Innovation and Entrepreneurship—has been known as CU �鶹ӰԺ’s entrepreneurial “flight simulator.” NVC gives aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to build a startup through entrepreneurial events and programming, community support, mentorship and ultimately, funding.

Ask the Expert is a collaboration between the CCTSI, Venture Partners at CU �鶹ӰԺ, CSU Ventures and the NIH Research Evaluation and Commercialization Hubs (REACH) grant at CU Anschutz. This lunchtime series is for researchers and academics who are interested in entrepreneurship, device and technology development and innovation. Every month, academics and innovators will engage in a lively and provocative interview with an expert, followed by a Q&A session.  This month, Pharoah Schnieber will present “Navigating medical device development and regulatory approvals – creating value for early-stage companies.” The series will take place on Zoom.

Colorado has one of the most vibrant startup ecosystems anywhere, but it hasn’t always been this way. This is no time for Colorado to rest on its laurels either, as the national and global startup environment is rapidly changing. Early stage startup ecosystems need to build the basics, such as access to capital, syndication networks, great universities, top quality talent, mentor pools, federal labs, active economic development groups that don’t just focus on real estate, and up-to-date thought leadership (and unicorns and an exit or two from the community doesn’t hurt much either).
