Smart bike lock lasts 10 years without recharging鈥攁nd takes photos of thieves

Problem

Smart bike locks have had a slow adoption rate due to a high price point, lack of features and the need to recharge the battery.

Market Opportunity

The growing "smart lock" market needs low-maintenance locks with improved features and higher power efficiency.

Solution

CU鈥檚 novel, smart lock system developed by the inventor, Aaron Park, detects when the system is compromised and triggers the sound of an alarm to deter the thief. The lock is designed to allow alerts via cellular or radio, that include tracking and photo content directly to the owner鈥檚 phone. The lock does not use the battery when the system is not actively breached, therefore it can remain functional without maintenance for up to ten years.
