Our next steps to improve processes related to reporting abuse.
At the end of January, I shared how new immigration restrictions based on a presidential executive order might affect our campus. I have heard from many in our community about their continuing concern and want to share an update on our campus efforts.
In recent weeks, the tenor of conversations about events shaping our nation has intensified noticeably. As a member of the campus’ leadership, I wanted to reach out to let you know we are closely monitoring how changes might affect our research community.
Today, Sports Illustrated published an article on domestic violence allegations against former assistant football coach Joe Tumpkin, who resigned on Jan. 27. CU administrators had knowledge of allegations of abuse in December but believed it was premature to take personnel action then because there was no restraining order, criminal charges, civil action or other documentation of the allegation. We regret these allegations were not reported sooner to OIEC.

The University of Colorado has heard from many students, faculty and staff concerned about how the new restrictions on immigration and the ability of non-United States citizens to enter the U.S. will affect the CU Â鶹ӰԺ community.
"The university consists of all who come into and go forth from her halls, who are touched by her influence and who carry on her spirit. Wherever you go, the university goes with you. Wherever you are at work, there is the university at work."
Positive change in the CU Â鶹ӰԺ community will require continuous effort and struggle. It is on us to make our community everything we desire and know it can be, starting with individual action and outreach.
