As we await word on the fate of DACA, now is an opportune moment to remember the university's core missions of supporting academic success and advancing scholarly research and teaching opportunities.

A university that aspires to shape tomorrow's leaders, be the top university for innovation and positively impact humanity cannot do any of those things in an atmosphere of mistrust, isolation and constant conflict.

We appreciate the understanding of our campus and community as we adjusted to developments over the weekend, and as we return to business as usual, effective immediately.

As you may know, ongoing budget negotiations have failed to produce a stopgap funding agreement in Congress. We are tracking this issue carefully and monitoring potential impacts on our students, faculty, staff and research programs.

I hope you all had an opportunity to recharge over winter break. As you gear up for a new semester and new year, I encourage you to take some time to think about what goals you'd like to accomplish.

As a community, we had a tremendous fall semester involving the Be Â鶹ӰԺ Pact, the CU Impact Scholarship, record-breaking research revenues, countless achievements made from all corners of campus and more. We look forward to an exciting spring.

Whether it's Academic Futures, innovation grants or fresh approaches to everyday processes, I know the momentum you're building will bring an amazing finish to the semester and lay the groundwork for a vital future.

Congratulations on a successful semester! After going through the stress that comes with finals, I encourage you all to use some time over the next few weeks to practice self-care, relax and recharge over winter break.

As fall semester closes and winter break approaches, it's a good time to reflect on our academic accomplishments so far this year, and on the spirit and values that fuel these successes.

You might be starting to feel stressed out as finals approach, which is normal and common, but there's still plenty of time to finish strong.
