On the Move
- Justin Schwartz will join the University of Colorado community, becoming the chancellor of the Â鶹ӰԺ campus on July 1. Read a message from CU President Todd Saliman following a unanimous vote by the CU Board of Regents approving the hire. Current Chancellor Philip DiStefano will continue as a faculty member, the senior executive director of the Center for Leadership and in other roles.
- Glen Krutz will resign as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and be a full-time professor in the department of political science.
- The College of Arts and Sciences announced Irene Blair as its dean of natural sciences. Blair joins John-Michael Rivera and Sarah Jackson, who are also deans of division.
- Director of Choral Activities Coreen Duffy will join the College of Music in fall 2024. Duffy has served as director of choral activities at the University of Montana School of Music for the past six years.
- The College of Music has announced that Nicholas Perna will join the College of Music this fall as an associate professor and the director of vocal pedagogy.
- Marlon Lynch, who joins from Michigan State University, will begin at CU Â鶹ӰԺ on March 4. He will oversee the CU Police Department, event and emergency management, flight operations and threat assessment.
- The CU Â鶹ӰԺ College of Music welcomes Assistant Dean for Strategic Initiatives Kate Cimino, who brings a wealth of experience in executive leadership and higher education, and a long-held passion for music.
- The Entrepreneurship Center for Music introduced a new face this academic year: While Professor of Composition and ECM Director Jeffrey Nytch is on sabbatical until fall 2024, Marilyn Brock fulfills the role of interim director.
- Assistant Professor Kathryn Materna's focus on earthquake cycles and tectonic deformation will add depth to CU Â鶹ӰԺ geodesy research.
- Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation and Dean of the Institutes Massimo Ruzzene has named Alexa Van Dalsem director of the Office of Contracts and Grants. The appointment is effective on Jan. 1.
