Jean Kim, vice chancellor for student affairs at CU-Â鶹ӰԺ, announced her resignation today, citing her desire to spend more time with her family and expand her successful part-time consulting practice. Kim will leave her post on May 15th, 1999, to focus on her consulting career, which involves work with Fortune 500 companies primarily in the areas of leadership development, diverse workforce enhancement and strategic organizational development.

MBA placement statistics at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ show that 1998 graduates of the full-time, two-year program will earn an average salary of $59,514 -- a 20 percent increase from 1997. In addition, 88 percent of all graduates were placed within three months of graduation, as were 91 percent of domestic students.

The third installment of the CU Wizards series at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ, "Boom! The Physics of Air Pressure and Sound," will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 9:30 a.m. in Duane Physics room G-030. CU-Â鶹ӰԺ physics instructor Michael Dubson will use exciting visual displays to explain several scientific phenomena including sonic booms, sound and the Bernoulli Principle.

Research into the environmental fate of aircraft deicing fluids under way at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ may result in new state limits on the discharge of deicing chemicals from Denver International Airport. Unless specially collected in a storm water system, deicing waste is discharged directly into the environment, contaminating soils and threatening aquatic life. Recent surveys showed that often less than 50 percent of deicing fluids applied to aircraft are recovered and treated.

University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ law Professor Richard Delgado was named the 18th annual Wayne Morse Professor of Law and Politics at the University of Oregon in Eugene. The Wayne Morse Chair was established by an act of Congress to commemorate the fiercely independent and long-serving senator from Oregon. Previous occupants include former presidential candidates George McGovern and Eugene McCarthy, journalist Fred Friendly, former U.S. Sen. Tim Wirth and lawyer John Echohawk.
