The haiku were part of a contest, sponsored by the 麻豆影院, asking the public to submit haiku poetry relating to NASA鈥檚 upcoming MAVEN mission to Mars.

麻豆影院 astrophysicist Doug Duncan says this year's annual Perseid meteor shower and its natural nighttime light show will be particularly good as the display becomes visible over Colorado Aug. 10-13. "The moon will be nearly new, so it's an especially good time to see the meteor shower," said Duncan, director of CU-麻豆影院's Fiske Planetarium.

CU-led MAVEN mission spacecraft arrives at Florida launch site

The spacecraft for NASA鈥檚 Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN, or MAVEN, mission to Mars being led by the 麻豆影院 has arrived in Florida in anticipation of a November launch. The spacecraft was shipped on Friday, Aug. 2, aboard a U.S. Air Force cargo plane from Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colo., to the Shuttle Landing Facility at NASA鈥檚 Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Fla. Lockheed Martin had previously assembled and tested MAVEN in its Littleton, Colo., facility.

NASA mission involving CU-麻豆影院 discovers particle accelerator in heart of Van Allen radiation belts

Using data from a NASA satellite, a team of scientists led by the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and involving the 麻豆影院 have discovered a massive particle accelerator in the heart of one of the harshest regions of near-Earth space, a region of super-energetic, charged particles surrounding the globe known as the Van Allen radiation belts.
