"Mars Quest" At Fiske

Fiske Planetarium at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ will explore the red planet during "Mars Quest," Friday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the planetarium. The pre-recorded show examines the history of humankindÂ’s exploration of Mars, glancing in at the planet from space and exploring its surface. The show also delves into the question of life on Mars.

CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Parents Association Hosts Fall Parents Weekend Oct. 27-29

More than 5,000 parents and families of CU-Â鶹ӰԺ students are expected to attend the annual Fall Parents Weekend to be held Oct. 27-29 on the CU-Â鶹ӰԺ campus. The event draws parents from around the United States and from several foreign countries. For the first time parents and families are able to register online over the Internet, which will account for approximately half of all registrations this year, according to Leasa Weimer, director of parent relations.

CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Fraternity Members To Harvest Pumpkins For Community Food Share

WHAT: A community service project for members of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, who will glean surplus pumpkins for Munson Farm to help feed needy residents in Â鶹ӰԺ County. Noted American Archaeologist To Speak At CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Oct. 27

David Hurst Thomas, curator of anthropology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York and one the nationÂ’s best-known archaeologists, will speak at the University of Colorado at Â鶹ӰԺ Oct. 27 on his controversial book, "Skull Wars." Sponsored by the CU-Â鶹ӰԺ anthropology department and funded by a department alumnus, the Sixth Annual Distinguished Archaeology Lecture will be held at 8 p.m. in room 270 of the Hale Science Building. The free public event, which coincides with CU Parents Weekend, will be followed by a reception.

University Hill Community Cleanup And Social Set For Oct. 22

The University of Colorado Student Union, in conjunction with the University Hill Neighborhood Association, will sponsor a neighborhood cleanup and social on Sunday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The meeting area for participants will be the University Hill parking lot located at 13th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. "This is a time to get to know one another and break down barriers to form a stronger, safer community for everyone," said Amanda Breeden, UCSU Community Relations director.

United States And Russia Release Arctic Climate Data

Corporate Express Executive Receives Entrepreneurship Award From CU-Â鶹ӰԺ

Gary Jacobs, executive vice president and founding investor in Broomfield-based Corporate Express Inc., today was awarded the 2000 Dean's Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence by CU-Â鶹ӰԺ's College of Engineering and Applied Science. Corotis said Jacobs' "exceptional leadership and innovations epitomize the goals of the comprehensive, technologically based education found in our countryÂ’s leading engineering colleges."

Urban/Rural Divorce Trial To Be Played Out In Fort Collins

The program will be held from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Stuart St., and is sponsored by Common Ground - The Urban/Rural Connection, an organization that promotes sustainable communities. The event is free and open to the public.

Eatons Donate $5 Million For CU-Â鶹ӰԺ's Arts And Sciences Building

The CU Board of Regents announced today that Woody and Leslie Eaton have donated $5 million toward the support of CU-Â鶹ӰԺ’s new Humanities Building at the College of Arts and Sciences. "This is a tremendous commitment in support of CU-Â鶹ӰԺ and the College of Arts and Sciences," said Chancellor Richard Byyny. "WeÂ’re very appreciative of this gift and what it means for the new Humanities Building, as well as for the college. The EatonÂ’s loyalty and generosity to CU-Â鶹ӰԺ is a great example to us all."
